Tips On Building Your Tribe

What does it look like to have a tribe or a community? We all live in (a) community with other people but they are not necessarily people that we would choose for one reason or another. We have to learn how to get along with those that are in close proximity to us. When we choose to build a tribe, we get to hand pick each member. Here are a few tips to get you started.

How to build my tribe

Here are a few important things to consider when building your tribe. Remember these are just suggestions, you can use these ideas to guide you through the process. Consider asking each one to be apart of your tribe in a special and unique way. Maybe make them a special gift or write them a heartfelt note. Get creative!

WHO

Who is the person (or people) that your mom or guardian trust the most? And why? What do they have in common? What are the things you have in common or like about this person(s)? How long have you or your mom known them. Do you both believe they would be a good influence on you?

WHERE

Where does this person live and how do you or will you communicate with them? If you needed them how will you all get to them? Or them to you? Are the an emergency contact or do they live too far away?

WHEN

Do you see them regularly? Can you plan to spend some quality time together in the near future? Where will you go and what will you do? Will you all plan this special bonding time together? Can you talk about important things?

WHY

Why is this person(s) someone you or your mom would want to be an influence in your life? What makes them a good fit for the space that you and your guardian/girl have created? Why are you special to them?
